James R. Wiggins

James Wiggins is a Managing Director within Morgan Stanley’s Corporate Affairs group. With responsibilities for media relations and internal communications, he serves Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, an industry leader with over 15,000 financial advisors, approximately $2 trillion in client assets, and more than 600 offices serving clients in the U.S. and Latin America. Mr. Wiggins joined Morgan Stanley in May, 2006, and serves on the Management Committee of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
From 1985 to 2005, Mr. Wiggins served in a succession of corporate communications positions at Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. These included director of corporate communications for the company, and director of communications for the Global Private Client group. At various times during his 20-year career, which spanned four CEOs, he oversaw global media relations, internal communications and executive speechwriting activities.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Wiggins served for two years from 1983-1985 as Director of Marketing for PR Newswire, the international public relations wire service headquartered in New York City.
From 1979 to 1983, Mr. Wiggins served as a communications official in the administration of Governor Richard Thornburgh of Pennsylvania, including three years as Deputy Press Secretary to the Governor.
Mr. Wiggins began his career as a journalist. He edited the Harrisburg (Pa.) Independent Press, a weekly community newspaper, and served as statehouse correspondent for WCAU radio and WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, and WTAE-TV and radio in Pittsburgh. He also reported for the CBS Radio Network on stories of national interest originating in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Wiggins received a B.A. degree in journalism from Penn State University in 1972 and is an active alumnus of the university, having served as an Alumni Fellow, president of the College of Communications Alumni Society and currently as a member of the Advisory Board of the Schreyer Honors College. He serves on the board of the Chelsea Day School in New York City, where he resides with his wife and three daughters.
