Program Overview:

The Cybersecurity Program at Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) has earned industry and government recognition. The National Security Agency (NSA) has designated PGCC as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber-Defense (CAE-CD). PGCC originated and homes the National Cyberwatch Center, leading collaborative efforts to advance cybersecurity education and strengthen the national workforce. The Cybersecurity program at the college provides the skills for students to become highly skilled computer systems security professionals and to train individuals for positions as data security analysts, systems security administrators, and network security administrators. In this program, students master the latest security technologies and examine the issues of information security awareness, network security hardware, systems and network security planning and defense, network security organization, and the legal and ethical issues associated with cybersecurity. Students also complete a capstone project and design information security systems and implement a security strategy for a network. Students completing this degree program be able to use the curriculum fundamentals learned to prepare for industry certifications through our partners such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Juniper Networks, and CompTIA.
